Study abroad
The Marine Biology program offers the Master of Science and the Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Marine Biology. A personalized graduate advisory committee guides each student through the conception, design, construction, and execution of a marine biology-based inquiry. Student Learning Outcomes The research at the Marine Biological Sections covers numerous basic and applied aspects in marine biology: Aquatic microbiology Functional biology of marine animals and plants Fish and invertebrate physiology Climate change biology Aquaculture and bioproducts Coral reef biology Diversity, phylogeny and evolution of metazoans and protists MSc – The MSc program involves courses and a thesis and can be completed in two years of full-time study. PhD – The PhD program involves courses, a comprehensive exam, and a thesis, and can be completed in four years of full-time study. Contact a faculty supervisor
Program Description
This PhD thesis investigates and describes macroecological patterns in the distribution and diversity of marine phytoplankton. The primary focus has been to describe macroecological patterns in phytoplankton total biomass and community structure and relate these patterns to abiotic conditions (primarily temperature, salinity, mixed layer in situ Theses/Dissertations from PDF.
